Kambo, a secretion from the Amazonian Giant Monkey Frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor,
has been used for over 2000 years by indigenous tribes in Brazil and Peru.
As ‘Hunter’s Magic’, Kambo was thought to improve speed and stamina as well as reduce pain.
It was also used as a medicine for infections, fevers, anti-venom and fertility.
It is said by the tribes to remove ‘panema’, a dark, negative, lazy or heavy energy trapped in the body. This holistic deep cleansing can cause a shift in the physical, emotional and spiritual being, creating space for love, joy, peace, gratitude, and abundance.
How does Kambo work?
Whilst we still do not know exactly how Kambo works, it has been the subject of decades of medical research. Kambo contains dozens of short chain amino acids (peptides), some of which bind to receptor sites in humans (like neurotransmitters and cannabinoids, for example), many of which are antimicrobial and effective against drug resistant strains of bacteria, fungi, protozoa, parasites and virus thus providing exciting opportunities for the development of new technologies for treating infectious diseases.

What happens in a session?
The frog secretions are scraped from a wooden ‘Kambo stick’ and applied through small and very shallow burns (sometimes known as "gates") on the surface layer of the skin as this is the most effective way for the medicine to travel through the body via the lymphatic system. Its bioactive peptides and neuropeptides set off a chain reaction in the body, strengthening the immune system and detoxing the liver and the intestines.
No frogs are harmed in the production of Kambo.
Physical changes
The body is cleansed, and the glands are squeezed. Toxins are released into the stomach, which are then expelled. There's often a purge, which can include vomiting, using the toilet, and sweating.
