What is Kambo used for?
Kambo is used to cleanse the body. It works holistically - triggering a purging process where the body releases toxins in order to cleanse itself. As the physical is cleansed, the emotional, mental and spiritual are cleansed also.
Trapped emotions can be released, and repetitive thought patterns of the mind can be let go of. Kambo is used in the jungle to treat "panema" - negative, heavy thoughts in the mind. Usually after the kambo people feel clear, sharp, and with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose.
Kambo is used to treat a range of diseases such as cancer, migraines, depression, anxiety, infections, chronic pain, infertility, Parkinson's and much more.

What happens in a session?
Our sessions begin with a preparation which involves an intention setting and an opening of the space prior to the session, to go beyond the mind and connect with what's moving in the heart.
The frog secretions are scraped from a wooden ‘Kambo stick’ and applied through small and very shallow burns (sometimes known as "gates") on the surface layer of the skin.
Initially, the body temperature heightens and the heart rate increases. This usually lasts for around five minutes. After this, the blood pressure drops and you may feel a little faint. It's during this time that the "purge" begins - where the body begins to release stored toxins. This can sometimes come through vomit, needing the toilet, sweating, shaking, or an emotional release.
The session itself lasts around 30 minutes. Afterward, people often feel tired and need to rest for 15 - 20 minutes. Other times, people feel immediately full of energy and feel the sensation of the "Kambo glow". Each kambo process is unique.
The Kambo we use comes from the jungles of Brazil and Peru, and is harvested respectfully.
No frogs are harmed during the process of obtaining Kambo.
How does Kambo work?
The secretion contains a number of peptides that work together to create effects within the body. Some of the key peptides that have been identified within Kambo are as follows:

Phyllomedusin: produces contraction at the and increases secretions of the entire gastrointestinal tract such as the salivary glands, stomach, small and large intestine, pancreas and gallbladder. This is responsible for the deep purge which can occur with Kambo.

Phyllokinin and Phyllomedusins: open the blood-brain barrier, allowing these peptides and others to enter the brain. These also work as powerful antimicrobials and antifungals.

Dermorphin and deltorphin: work on the opiate receptors in the brain, creating a painkilling effect. They are 4000 times more powerful than morphine.

Adenoregulins: target the adenosine receptors in the brain. It's theorised that these receptors can be selected as a treatment for depression, stroke and cognitive loss diseases (such as Alzheimer's) and Parkinson's.

Despite deep scientific research being done, it's important to note that there are many mysteries within the Kambo treatment that cannot be explained. Indigenous people report that the spirit of the medicine comes to heal. The way that the substance targets certain conditions and seems to "know" where to focus itself has not yet been understood - the process of healing is the process of beginning to trust in the mystery.

Sessions in Zanzibar take place in Jambiani in a luxury boutique resort in a private bungalow / garden.
Sessions cost $200 (£160) each, and one session is enough to experience the benefits of Kambo. If you would like a full treatment of three sessions within a month, the cost is $500 (£400).For the full process of three sessions, payment will be taken in full at the first session - this acts as a commitment to complete the process.
Any medical concerns will be discussed upon booking and each participant will be assessed by our medical doctor to ensure it's safe to participate.

Yorkshire
Sessions in Yorkshire take place in your home, or the home of the practitioner.
Sessions cost £120 each, and one session is enough to experience the benefits of Kambo. If you would like a full treatment of three sessions within a month, the cost is £300. For the three sessions, payment will be taken in full at the first session.
A non-refundable deposit of £25 is required to reserve each appointment, with the balance payable on arrival at the beginning of the session. In case of any health concerns as to whether you're able to participate, each participant is assessed by our medical team.
